Rewrite Paragraphs with AI on Mac: A Beginner's Guide to Shortcuts & Tools
If you're new to Mac, you might not realize how much time you spend rewriting text. Emails, social media posts, cover letters, blog paragraphs—most of us write the same thing multiple ways until it feels right.
With AI and the right tools, you can cut that time in half. And you don't need to know how to code or build complex workflows.
This guide walks beginners through the simplest way to rewrite paragraphs on Mac.
What We're Going to Do
By the end of this guide, you'll know how to:
- Copy any text on your Mac
- Rewrite it using AI (change tone, make it shorter, etc.)
- Paste it back into your document
All without leaving your current app. No coding. No technical setup. Just three actions.
The Simplest Method: ClipHistory
ClipHistory is a clipboard manager that handles AI rewrites for you. It's designed for beginners because there's literally nothing to set up.
What you need:
- A Mac (this guide is for macOS)
- The ClipHistory app ($9.99 one-time, or free for 50 clips)
- Any app where you write (Mail, Notes, Google Docs, Word, etc.)
That's it.
Step 1: Download and Install ClipHistory
- Go to cliphistory.com
- Click "Download Free"
- A .dmg file downloads
- Drag ClipHistory into your Applications folder
- Open Applications and double-click ClipHistory
- Click "Open" if macOS asks for permission
You now have ClipHistory running. You'll see a small purple icon in your menu bar (top right of your screen).
Bottom Line
The best part? Once you get used to this workflow, it becomes automatic. Cmd+Shift+C becomes muscle memory, and you'll start rewriting paragraphs without thinking about it.
